HB 16 (Prince-D-Augusta)

This bill amends O.C.G.A. § 20-2-316.3 to require that no high school which receives funding under QBE shall participate in or sponsor interscholastic sports events conducted by any athletic association unless the association allows students enrolled in magnet schools to try out for and participate on an athletic team of their resident school where the magnet school does not offer such athletic team.  They would only be eligible to participate at the school they would normally attend if they were not enrolled in the magnet school and provided they must be subject to the same standards and comply with the same requirements as apply to students enrolled in such public high school.
