This bill requires the Department of Education develop rules to require all certificated school personnel receive annual training in suicide awarness and prevention, in consultation with other state agencies and suicide provention experts, develop a list of approved training materials, and develop a model Suicide Prevention Policy.

Local school systems are required to develop a local Suicide Prevention Policy after consultation with school and community stakeholders, school employed mental health professionals, and suicide prevention experts which, at a minimum, addresses procedures relating to suicide prevention, intervention, and post intervention.
