SB 81 (Sen. Wilkinson, Gooch, Tippins, Williams, and McKoon - R)

Amends several current code sections and adds new code to provide for an option to the current means of electing and appointing school board members and superintendents in Georgia.

Currently, school board members are elected by the public and school superintendents are appointed by those local boards of education.

This bill provides an option that would allow the legislature to enact local law to provide for the election of the school superintendent and the appointment of members of the board of education by the local Grand Jury.
