HB 250 clarifies what crimes the Professional Standards Commission can investigate when looking into complaints submitted by local boards, state board, or Georgia residents. Expanding on “crimes of moral turpitude” it specifically lists drug and sexual offences as warranting investigation.

This bill passed the House under the Open Rule.

Further Action

Section 2 was added by the Senate. It authorizes commission staff to begin a preliminary investigation of a complaint by a student against an educator alleging a sexual offense without commission notification. The House agreed to the Senate Substitute.
