HB 280 adds a new code section dealing with marijuana flavored candy. This bill makes it unlawful to sell, deliver, distribute, or provide marijuana flavored products to minors or to knowingly possess the products with the intent to provide to minors. There is a $1000 fine for each offense. The bill also makes it unlawful to falsely claim to be 18 or older, in order to get one of these products, but no criminal penalties are specified.
This bill received a Do Pass recommendation from the Children & Youth Committee and comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.

The community wants to keep these products away from our children because they are being influenced to use marijuana.

The Senate changed the effective date to reflect it being the second year of the session. The House agreed as amended by the House, decreasing the penalty from $1000 to $500. |
