Under current state statute, counties of the fourth, fifth, and sixth class may use a portion of the resort communities transient room tax to fund emergency medical services. This bill extends this funding to counties of all classes that have “eligible towns,” which are defined as towns within a county that has a national park, in order to help communities like Springdale, Utah, with a population under 600 located in a county of the second class, that provide EMS services to over 4 million annual tourists to Zion National Park. |
