This bill amends criminal provisions relating to public property and public money.
The bill creates new standards for a public servant's misuse of public property. The newly added text identifies the following as the criminal misuse of public property: willfully damaging public property without legal authority; exercising control of public property with the intent to deprive the owner of possession of the public property or to temporarily appropriate, possess use or deprive the owner of use of the public property; willfully failing to keep and safeguard public property until the property's return or disposal.
The bill sets new misdemeanor standards for misuse of public property where the cost of repair or replacement is less than $5,000. |
