SUMMARY: LC 36 3248ER
"The Caregiver Education Consent Act". Would allow a kinship caregiver to give legal consent, for a child residing with them, for educational services and medical services directly related to academic enrollment and and extracurricular activities in which parental consent is required. Kinship refers to any grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, uncle, great aunt, great uncle, cousin sibling or fictive kin who has assumed responsibility for raising a child in an informal, or noncustodial manner. Fictive kin is identified as any individual known to the child as a relative, but is not actually related to said child by blood or marriage.
