Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:
Relates to research-based formative assessments for first and second graders in math and language arts. Would require research based assessments to provide real-time data and allow flexible grouping of students based on skill levels. Would also require the State Board of Education to conduct a study comparing state content standards in grades 9-12 to nationally recognized academic assessments, such as SAT.
