H 3016 SC Military Prepardeness and Enhancement Act5.15.07 The House Judiciary committee recommitted this bill to subcommittee. 1.17.07 - The House Judiciary Special Laws subcommittee adjourned debated on the bill because of an Executive Order by Governor Sanford creating a Base Closing Task Force. The subcommittee asked for recommendations over the next month for legislation that specifically supports quality of life initiatives in these cities. MASC is gathering information to share with the task force from the South Carolina cities that would be affected by base closings. Summary: Establishes Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission and provides for membership, powers and duties. S 1213 SC Residential Improvement District ActSummary: Provides that a county and municipality may create an improvement district comprised of noncontiguous parcels of land. The governments may use assessments to fund improvements located outside the boundaries of an improvement district. This bill also allows the improvement district assessment to be used for the construction and operation of improvements to fund construction and maintenance of infrastructure and improvements for new development.
