Bio

Stan Ellis is an American businessman, technologist, and public servant currently serving as a Member of the California State Assembly representing the 32nd District since March 2025. A lifelong entrepreneur and innovator, Ellis built his career at the intersection of agriculture, energy, and quantum technology, before transitioning into public service. He is a member of the Republican Party. Born and raised on a hog farm in South Dakota, Ellis graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, earning a 4.0 GPA. After college, he moved to Kern County, California, where he founded and operated several businesses in the oil, agriculture, and technology sectors. Ellis is the founder and former CEO of Sierra Process Systems Inc., and co-founder of Qubitekk, Inc., a pioneering company in quantum technology that was acquired by IonQ in early 2025. His work in quantum physics and technology positioned him as a respected figure in both the tech and scientific communities. He also previously owned the Bakersfield Jam, a professional basketball franchise. Ellis entered politics with a focus on water security, energy independence, and economic growth in California's Central Valley. After an unsuccessful congressional bid in 2024, he won the 2025 special election for the California State Assembly's 32nd District, succeeding Vince Fong. His campaign was backed by prominent local leaders, including Congressman David Valadao and Assemblyman Vince Fong. As a legislator, Ellis brings a pragmatic, business-driven approach to government, focusing on policies that support agriculture, energy, innovation, and the economic well-being of his community. Ellis resides in Bakersfield, California.
