Bio

I am running for Colorado State Representative because I can effectively represent House District 50, and I know how to run an effective campaign to retain the seat. This is the time for me to use my expertise and energy to move a legislative agenda that primarily focuses on Mental Health. We need to continue to expand and deepen students access to Mental Health services as the STEM students so effectively chanted at the memorial service after the shooting at their school. This obviously impacts school safety. WELD COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY h Precinct Captain h Executive Committee h Co-Chair Permanent Organization h Delegate Reorganization, County Assembly, State Assembly, State Central Committee h Active in numerous campaigns- state, local and national. I had intensive and direct involvement with Treasurer Youngis three HD 50 campaigns and campaign for state Treasurer. h I knocked thousands of doors, made phone calls, helped recruit and organize volunteers, and organized fund raising and community events. h I have also knocked many doors and collected signatures for many Education issues- bond campaigns, the campaign to fund Prairie Heights, and Ballot issue 73. POLICY/LEGISLATIVE FOCUS h Mental Health iV Increase access to Mental Health services in schools and our communities. More School Psychologists and other school and community Mental Health professionals are needed. h School Safety iV Improved Mental Health services will improve school safety. h Education iV P-12 education in Colorado is seriously underfunded. Comprehensive funding reform needs to continue to be pursued. h Disability Issues iV There are many issues, including residential support and transportation, but programs preparing individuals for community employment is a priority. h Issues Impacting Working Families iV As Democrats we need to be continuing to build a society where all families feel the positive effects of our booming economy. One important area is access to affordable child care. Another issue is increasing access in Weld for families to access appropriate services for their children with developmental disabilities. CURRENT COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT h ARC of Weld County Vice-President h ARC of Colorado- Weld County representative h Weld County Court Appointed Special Advocate supporting children in the Child Welfare system h Colorado Education Association-lifetime member h National Education Association- lifetime member EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND 2000 Ph.D. School Psychology University of Northern Colorado Greeley, Colorado 1973 M.Ed.
