| Darryl Ervin Rouson was elected to the Florida Senate in 2016 and has been reelected subsequently. Prior to that, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2008 to 2016.
Beyond his legislative service, he has held several public service roles, including working as a prosecutor in Pinellas County, serving as a commissioner on the Tax and Budget Reform Commission (2007-2008), and presiding as President of the St. Petersburg NAACP (2000-2005). He also chaired the St. Petersburg Black Chamber and has been a member of organizations such as the National Bar Association, Legatus, and the School Board of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
His work has earned him honors such as the Florida Prosecutor Association Award and the Smart Justice Award.
He is affiliated with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and is a member of Mt. Zion MB Church.
Professionally, he is an attorney with Rubenstein Law.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he moved to Florida in 1959. He is married to Angela Holmes Rouson of St. Petersburg, FL, and they have nine children- Antonio Winston, Sakeisha Winston, Danielle Rouson, Giselle Rouson, Evan Holmes, Daniel Rouson, Emanuel Rouson, Jared Rouson, and Aaron Rouson.
He earned a B.A. from Xavier University of New Orleans in 1977 and a J.D. from the University of Florida in 1980.
