Jonathan Martin was elected to the Senate in 2022 and has been reelected subsequently. His public service includes working as an Assistant State Attorney in the 20th Judicial Circuit, covering Hendry County from 2008 to 2009, Glades County from 2009 to 2012, and Lee County from 2012 to 2014. He also served as a trustee for Florida SouthWestern State College from 2018 to 2022. Additionally, he was the president of the Hendry-Glades Bar Association from 2011 to 2012 and a member of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee from 2011 to 2013.
He has been affiliated with the Federalist Society since 2005.
An attorney by profession, he is married to Amy D'Alessandro Martin of Fort Myers, Florida. They have three children- Ryker, Reagan, and Rhett.
He earned a J.D. from Liberty University School of Law in 2007, where he was the founding chair of the Honor Council and founding president of the Federalist Society. He also holds both a B.S. and a B.A. from Stetson University, graduating in 2004, where he served as president of the Student Government Association.
Born in Cherokee, Iowa, he moved to Florida in 1986. He is a Christian and enjoys traveling, boating, and hunting. |
