Shevrin D. Jones was elected to the Senate in 2020 and has been reelected subsequently. He previously served in the House of Representatives from 2012 to 2020.
He has received several honors and awards, including recognition as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Most Powerful in South Florida and Top 30 Under 30 Successful Black Men. He was named Florida Young Democrat of the Year and served on President Obama's College Promise Task Force.
His affiliations include Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Leadership Florida (Class 32), and Leadership Broward (Class 27).
He is the National Director of Development at COOP Careers.
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Higher Education from Florida Atlantic University (2022) and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, Higher Education from the same institution (2017). He earned a B.S. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Florida A&M University in 2006.
Born in Miami Gardens, Florida, he is the son of Eric H. Jones, who served as Mayor of West Park until his retirement in November 2020.
He is a nondenominational Christian and enjoys running, reading, and spending time with family. |
