Representative Don Parsons has been a resident of Cobb County, Georgia since 1972. He and his
wife, Jo Lynn, were married shortly after they both graduated from West Virginia State
University. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
Rep. Parsons served in the United States Army Reserves and the Army National Guard for a total
of 16 years. He served in the Infantry, Armored Cavalry and as a First Sergeant in the Signal
Corps. He was employed in the telecommunications industry for 35 years.
Rep. Parsons is a long time member of the Marietta Kiwanis Club. He serves on numerous
advisory boards including the Northwest Georgia Law Enforcement Academy Board, the Cobb
County Library Foundation Board, the Cobb Community Service Board and the Cobb Safety
Village Board. He is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol. He and Jo Lynn worship in the Methodist
faith.
Rep. Parsons was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994 and currently serves as
Chairman of the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee. He also serves on the
Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government, Code Revision, Health,
Intragovernmental Coordination, Technology & Infrastructure Innovation and Ways & Means
committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management. |
