| Senator Freddie Powell Sims, a Democrat from Dawson,
was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2008. She
serves Georgia's 12th Senate District which covers Baker,
Calhoun, Clay, Dougherty, Early, Miller, Mitchell,
Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Sumter, Terrell and
Webster counties. Sen. Powell Sims serves as the Secretary of the Senate
Committee on Education & Youth. Sen. Powell Sims is also
a member of the Senate Committees on Agriculture and
Consumer Affairs, Appropriations, Interstate Cooperation, Natural Resources and the Environment and Urban
Affairs. Additionally, she serves as an Ex-Officio on the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities. Sen. Powell Sims served in the Georgia State House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008. She served on the
following House Committees- Education, Economic Development, Tourism, Transportation and Natural
Resources and the Environment.
