Bio

Kirk Talbot is the Louisiana State Senator for District 10 which encompasses Kenner, Harahan, River Ridge and portions of Metairie. He was elected to the Senate in 2019 after spending 12 years as the State Representative for House District 78. Currently, he is Chairman of the Senate Insurance Committee and a member of the Senate Committees on Education, Retirement and Judiciary B. In addition to these major committee assignments, Senator Talbot serves as an ex officio member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs. Senator Talbot serves on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Property and Casualty Insurance Commission, the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana, the LA Automobile Theft & Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority, the District Attorney's Retirement System, the Registrars of Voters Employees' Retirement System, the LA Office of Group Benefits, The Louisiana Workers Compensation Corporation and the La High School Athletic Association. He is the Senate designee for the Task Force on Municipal Fire & Police Civil Service Reform. He is an active member of the French Quarter Business Association. Senator Talbot has been recognized and honored by numerous organizations. Most recently, Senator Talbot was honored as the Legislator of the Year by the New Orleans Visitor & Convention Bureau. He has been honored by the LA Association of Business and Industry as a Free Enterprise Award recipient. The LA Federation for Children has honored him as an Education Choice Champion for numerous years. The Louisiana Family Forum has recognized Senator Talbot for the last eight years as a Life and Liberty Award recipient and as a Louisiana Family Forum Family Advocate. The National Federation of Independent Businesses has recognized him as a House Guardian as a result of his a strong voice for small business. Recently, AARP honored him as Capitol Caregiver and the United Way honored him as State Legislative Champion. Senator Talbot is married to the former Julie Strong of Oak Grove, Louisiana. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Michael and Annabeth. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
