Bio

Ariana Kelly is a lifelong advocate for Montgomery County. She has a proven track record in Annapolis and Washington on issues that matter to Montgomery County, including health care, the environment, and education. In 2010, Ariana Kelly was elected to Maryland's House of Delegates representing the 16th District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac. She is the Vice Chair of the legislature's Health and Government Operations Committee, and Chairs the Health Occupations and Long Term Care Subcommittee. She also Chairs the Joint Committee on Children, Youth, and Families and the Task Force to Establish Paid Family Leave. In 2018, she was President of the Women Legislators of Maryland, the caucus of 60 diverse women State Senators and Delegates serving in Maryland's General Assembly. In the legislature, Ariana Kelly was the driving force behind Maryland's new paid family and medical leave program. She passed landmark legislation making Maryland first in the nation for access to abortion care, contraception, and consent education. She also authored laws requiring insurance coverage for autism and expanding access to prenatal and mental health care. She has been a supporter of important issues including Maryland's aggressive climate bills, the fracking ban, marriage equality, and police reform.
