Bio

As a fifth-generation farmer, Representative Posthumus knows the value of hard work and commitment. Over the past ten years, he has built his farm from a start up to the largest farmer-owned hop grower in the State of Michigan, and he brings that work ethic and experience to Lansing as a State Representative. Elected in 2020, Representative Posthumus is currently serving the citizens of the 73rd State House District, which includes much of Northeast Kent County. The district is comprised of the City of East Grand Rapids, along with Plainfield, Grand Rapids, Cannon, Courtland, Oakfield, Spencer, and Nelson Townships. From early in life, Bryan Posthumus understood the importance and challenges of public service. Son of former Lt. Governor, Dick Posthumus, and brother to former State Representative Lisa Posthumus Lyons, the representative has always been involved with State Politics. Representative Posthumus serves on several committees including Education, Insurance, and Rules and Competitiveness. He also serves as Majority Vice Chair for the Agriculture Committee. Whether he is working on legislation to provide parents a choice in their kids' education or cutting red tape for farmers and job providers with powerful personal testimony, Representative Bryan Posthumus has proven to be a leading voice for West Michigan and the state. Representative Posthumus graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors' Degree in Agricultural Business Management. He worships at Ada Bible church, and he is engaged to be married.
