Bio

I am a life-long resident of Minnesota (except for a two-year stint when my parents worked for the University of Iowa). I was born in Duluth, and grew up in Maple Grove. I have two brothers, Irish Twins. How appropriate being that I am part Irish myself. My parents grew up in Silver Bay where both of my grandfathers worked at the taconite plant there. Mining employees were represented by the Steelworkers Union and the company provided jobs that allowed families to thrive. Most of my childhood summers were spent with my grandparents on the North Shore. We hiked the Superior trails, explored Palisade Head and Shovel Point and took family camping trips to surrounding state parks. I graduated from Osseo High School and attended UMD (GO BULLDOGS!). I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. I continued my education and received a masters degree Advocacy and Political Leadership. During Grad school I had an internship with the Duluth City Council and also worked on a US Congressional campaign. Graduation didn't stop my education. As a Minnesota House page, I learned the ins and outs of the legislative process. I assumed the responsibilities of the Legislative Director for a local nonprofit, worked a few more campaigns and spent 3 years as the Executive Director of an issue advocacy organization. I am now the Volunteer Coordinator for a St. Paul based nonprofit, a position more rewarding than I could ever have imagined. I work with people from all walks of life helping them find opportunities to improve their skills, education and experience. I am running for the Minnesota House to help ensure all Minnesotans can have have similar opportunities and successes. We have beautiful state and municipal parks, amazing cultural diversity and experiences, and great schools and universities. It's our responsibility to make them even better.
