Bio

Michelle Fischbach proudly represents the 7th District of Minnesota, which covers the western half of Minnesota, reaching from the Canadian border almost all the way down to Iowa. Joining the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021, she now serves on the House Ways & Means Committee, Rules Committee, Budget Committee, and Ethics Committee. Michelle is a trailblazer and proven conservative leader with over 20 years of serving western Minnesota. She has spent the last two decades defending the agricultural community she represents and will continue to fight for Minnesota's farm families in Congress. Michelle knows that the radical policies of the left like the Green New Deal will be incredibly harmful to the agricultural industry and raise energy costs for every American. She stands up for issues that matter most to her district like strong rural communities, 2nd Amendment rights, respect for law and order, and defending the unborn. In 1996, Michelle was elected to the Minnesota Senate in a special election, a position she held until 2018. In 2011, Michelle became the first woman in Minnesota history to serve as President of the Minnesota Senate. She also served as Chair of the Minnesota Senate Higher Education Committee and as the 49th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. A native Minnesotan, Michelle received a B.A. in Political Science from St. Cloud State University and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. She and her husband, Scott, have two adult children and six grandchildren, and live on a hobby farm in the Paynesville area.
