Meeting the state's budget priorities will be at the top of the heap in the upcoming legislative session, said Republican Rep. Todd Porter, who was first elected in 1998.
"(People) talk a lot about maintaining the current property tax package. We talk a lot about education" Porter said of other campaign issues.
Porter, who chaired the House Energy and Natural Resources Committee and served on the House Human Services Committee during the past session, named energy policy as a top priority for him. Protecting education from cuts as well as maintaining property tax cuts enacted in recent sessions will also be important.
Porter, part-owner and a paramedic for Metro-Area Ambulance Service, said his career experience rquires rapid decision-making, which lends itself well to legislative work. He said he listens to all sides and can digest complex sets of information. |
