Bio

Jeff has been married to his wife Donna for 35 years and together they have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. He is a self-employed businessman and rancher, and has a degree from NDSCS in Environmental Systems. Working class roots are strong in Jeff's family. He is a Licenced Master Plumber, Licensed Pump and Pitless Unit Installer, as well as a ND class A contractor. From 2008-2016, he was elected to serve on the Emmons County Commission, where he developed a strong understanding of the needs of our communities. Jeff is also the former Mayor of Hazelton and served on the Board of Emmons Social Services. He is also a member of Beaver Valley Horse Club and Voices For Lake Oahe. In 2016, he was overwhelmingly elected to represent the people of District 28 in the State House - coming in 1st out of 4 candidates in the June 2016 Republican primary and later winning the general election by a wide margin. In 2020, Jeff was re-elected with 70% of the local Republican endorsing convention, and later came in 1st in a three-way House primary. After the legislative redistricting process was complete, Jeff decided to run for State Senate in the new boundaries of District 8. He won the endorsing convention 5-to-1 with his running mates Brandon Prichard and SuAnn Olson for State House. While in the House, Jeff has proven himself as a bold, conservative leader - sponsoring and supporting bills that prioritize constitutionally-obligated core services of government, while cutting wasteful spending, protecting life, protecting the Second Amendment, and providing greater government transparency. During his time in office, he has published weekly updates on his voting record and has kept himself available to constituents by phone, email and mail. Accomplishments support of veterans by sponsoring bills for ACOVA sponsored Constitutional Carry to protect our Second Amendment rights sponsored Food Freedom Act to help our cottage foods producers sponsored legislation to prevent the misrepresentation of the use of the word meat in non-meat products
