Bio

John Allen's journey of public service and leadership started twenty years ago. At just 21 years old, John served as Board of Education President in his hometown of Old Bridge while still in college. As an attorney at a law firm that specializes in education issues, John represented School Boards around the state, along with other clients. His early foray into public service set the second stage of his career, characterized by tireless dedication to Hoboken, and now Jersey City. John is also active in the Democratic Party, having served two terms as a Hoboken Democratic Committeeman alongside his wife, Tara, as Committeewoman, and is now serving as an Honorary Hudson County Democratic Party Vice-Chair. His track record of diverse experiences underscores John's multifaceted expertise and his unwavering commitment to public service. John served as Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla's chief of staff for five years, and then served as assistant corporation counsel for the the City of Hoboken. John was the the lead negotiator in the successful fight to secure the former Union Dry Dock site for public, open space and finally connecting the final piece of Hoboken's waterfront. Additionally, John helped to negotiate a historic redevelopment project to revitalize the Hoboken Terminal, helping lobby and secure $176 million from the State of New Jersey. A graduate of Rutgers Law School and recognized as a New Leader of the Bar by the esteemed New Jersey Law Journal, John's legal prowess has earned him well-deserved recognition.
