| Mr. Wimberly was elected to the Senate at a special convention in January 2025. He previously served in the Assembly, representing the 35th District from 2011-2025.
Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, the senator has served as a special education teacher, a coach and mentor for varsity baseball and football teams, and the Director of the Paterson Division of Recreation. He eventually went on to become the head football coach of both Paterson Catholic High School and Hackensack High School, bringing the teams several State and League Championship victories.
In the Assembly, Wimberly was named the Speaker Pro Tempore as well as Vice Chair of the Budget Committee. In addition to his work in the State House, the senator serves on the NJSIAA (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association).
The senator holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Virginia State University.
He and his wife, Kimberlynn, are the proud parents of four sons- Justin, Jared, Jordan, and Jaden. He also has a grandson, Jayce, and a dog, Jada. |
