Representative Daniel Alders is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving District 6, which encompasses Smith County, including Tyler, Arp, Bullard, Whitehouse, and surrounding communities. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, succeeding Matt Schaefer, and his current term extends until January 12, 2027. Born on November 14, 1986, in Dallas, Texas, Alders is a seventh-generation Texan with family roots in Nacogdoches County dating back to 1836. He grew up on a family farm in rural East Texas. Alders earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho, in 2009. After completing his education, Alders returned to East Texas, where he began his career in real estate. He is the president of Drake Management Services, a commercial property management company based in Tyler. His political experience includes serving as the East Texas Regional Director for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz from 2015 to 2017. Alders has been actively involved in his community, serving as chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce's Governmental Affairs Committee and as a deacon at Fifth Street Presbyterian Church. In 2022, he was selected for the Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership Program. In the Texas House, Alders serves on the Delivery of Government Efficiency and Land & Resource Management committees. He emphasizes principles such as limited government, free markets, and constitutional responsibility. Alders has expressed a commitment to continuing the conservative legacy of his predecessor, Matt Schaefer, while bringing his own perspective to the role. Daniel Alders resides in Tyler, Texas, with his wife, Joanna, and their two daughters, Trinity and Madeleine.
