Bio

Travis Clardy and his wife, Judy, raised four sons in East Texas. As a father, small businessman and attorney, he understands the challenges facing our state and is a strong independent conservative voice for East Texas. Clardy, a life-long Republican, is proud to represent the people of Cherokee, Nacogdoches and Rusk counties, and he has been a tireless advocate, both at home and in Austin, for local law enforcement, educators, businesses and residents. Currently, Travis serves as a member of the House Committee on Elections and the House Committee on Culture, Recreation and Tourism. During his tenure in the Legislature, he has also served on the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, the Human Services Committee, the Higher Education Committee and the Local and Consent Calendars Committee. The Texas District and County Attorneys Association presented its prestigious Law & Order Award to Travis for his work to facilitate prosecution for the manufacture and sale of dangerous synthetic drugs. The Texas Municipal Police Association, Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals, Texas Press Association and the Texas Hospital Association recognized Travis' leadership for law enforcement, rural healthcare, and our Constitutional rights. Travis is a partner with the law firm Holland & Knight. He has over 30 years of experience in civil litigation and is licensed to practice law before all state and federal courts in Texas, as well as the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He received his undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Pepperdine University School of Law. Travis and Judy are active members of the North Street Church of Christ. He has served on the Executive Board of the East Texas Boy Scouts and is a former president of the Nacogdoches County Bar Association. Travis is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Nacogdoches Rotary Club and a member of the Dean's Circle for the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts.
