Rep. Proncey Robertson is a US Air Force veteran of the Persian Gulf War and received an Honorable Discharge in 1990. After his time in the armed service, Rep. Robertson worked as a youth minister and in local law enforcement in Russellville, Arkansas. In 1994, he moved back to his home state of Alabama in 1994 where he has served at the Decatur Police Department and worked for more than 24 years. Rep. Robertson has an extensive record of Law Enforcement training and experience, which he applies to teach others at law enforcement officers at the police academies throughout the state. While working at Decatur PD he supervised the Decatur Police Department's Robbery & Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Investigations (CSI), the Street Crimes Unit (ACU) and the Honor Guard Unit. He's was also a member and team commander of the Decatur Police Department's Special Response Unit (SWAT) for more than 22 years. He also served on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force for 7 years working Counter Terrorism. Rep. Robertson has spend the last decade of his law enforcement career working directly with local school system to develop their emergency response plans and School Resource Officer Programs. Proncey was one of the most decorated officers within the Decatur Police Department, with sixteen department medals, including the department's highest award, "The Medal of Valor". He was named the 2003 American Legion "Law Enforcement Officer of the Year" for the State of Alabama. Promoted to Lieutenant in 2011, Robertson's primary roles were Homeland Security Coordinator, School Safety Coordinator and Public Information Officer. Proncey Retired from Decatur Police Department in May of 2018. Outside of law enforcement, Rep. Robertson has served as the Lawrence County Republican Party executive committee Chairman for 4 years. He has also served as a legislative appointee on the Lawrence County Community Development Commission, which reviews and awards local grant requests for TVA in-lieu of Tax Monies within Lawrence County. He is known throughout the state for his work as the state director of the non-profit organization, "The Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics". Over the past 20 years, Proncey has helped to build this organization from the ground up. With grass roots fundraising this organization has raised millions of dollars and brought public awareness for citizens with development disabilities across Alabama. After his retirement from Law Enforcement last year, and having spent more than 30 years in public service, Proncey wanted to find a place to continue to serve our communities. On November 6th 2018 Proncey Robertson was elected to the State House of Representative District 7 and will continue to serve us in his new role at the State Legislature. On a personal note, Proncey is married to his wife of 14 years, Kristi. He has two adult sons, Jacob and Daniel and two Granddaughters, Olivia and Blakley Mae. Proncey and Kristi are members of the Mt. Hope Baptist Church where they have taught Sunday school to adults and assisted with young ministers for many years.
