Bio

Chip Brown was born around 1970 and is a lifelong resident of South Alabama, currently residing on Hollingers Island, Alabama. He graduated from Troy State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history and political science. Brown later earned a Master of Arts degree in strategic communication from National University, completing it between 2015 and 2018. He also graduated from the Department of Defense Information School at Fort Meade, where he was recognized as a top ten graduate. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Brown enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard and served on active duty with the U.S. Army and U.S. Central Command at the Forward Command Headquarters during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He deployed twice as a military advisor to Kabul, Afghanistan for NATO-International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Brown was injured during training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and is classified as a disabled veteran. After completing his military service from 2001 to 2009, Brown transitioned into the private sector. He worked as a project manager for Proctor Environmental Engineering and later served as director of corporate public relations for Volkert, Inc. from 2015 to 2016. Brown established his own businesses, including serving as president of EH Brown and Company from 2013 to 2015 and president and commercial broker of EH Brown, LLC from 2005 to 2010. Since 2017, he has operated as Chief Executive Officer of Active Shooter Defense Training, Limited Liability Company. Currently, he works as a commercial real estate advisor for Stirling Properties, a position he has held since 2021. Brown's political career began with unsuccessful campaigns for Alabama State Senate District 32 in 1998 and 2002. He later sought the presidency of the Alabama Public Service Commission in 2010 and 2012. In the 2012 Republican primary, Brown finished second with 26.7% of the vote, advancing to a runoff against Twinkle Cavanaugh, where he received 39.2% of the vote but was ultimately defeated. In 2018, Brown successfully ran for the Alabama House of Representatives District 105. He won the Republican primary with 53.6% of the vote against three other candidates and secured the general election with 98.3% of the vote. He was reelected in 2022, defeating Democratic challenger Mark Lewis with 90.2% of the vote. Brown assumed office on November 7, 2018, and his current term extends until November 4, 2026. In the Alabama House of Representatives, Brown has held several leadership positions. He was elected Vice Chair of the Alabama House Republican Caucus in February 2024, filling a vacancy left by former Representative Wes Kitchens. Brown currently serves as Chairman of the House Ports, Waterways and Intermodal Transit Committee and holds memberships on the Economic Development and Tourism Committee, Insurance Committee, and Mobile County Legislation Committee. He also participates in various legislative caucuses and task forces, including the Veterans Mental Health Task Force, Advanced Air Mobility Task Force, Sexual Assault Task Force, Sportsman's Caucus, Rural Caucus, and Taiwan Caucus. Brown has been active in community service throughout his career. He previously served as Chairman of the Board for the Make A Wish Foundation of Alabama from 2001 to 2002. For several years, he volunteered as a youth baseball, football, soccer, and basketball coach. Brown is married to his wife Aimee, and they have been married for 16 years as of recent reports. The couple has one son named Harry. The family attends St. Philip Neri Parish in Fowl River, Alabama. In 2021, Brown received the Center for Security Policy's "Defender of Freedom" award, which recognizes public servants who support national security issues. The organization cited his legislative work on bail reform and anti-doxing legislation. Brown also serves as an adjunct lecturer at Spring Hill College, a position he has held since 2018
