Bio

A native of Enterprise, Alabama, the foundational values of faith, family, and freedom were instilled in Senator Britt from an early age. The proud daughter of two small business owners, she quickly learned the importance of hard work, grit, and determination. Growing up outside the gates of Fort Rucker (renamed Fort Novosel in 2023), she witnessed firsthand the incredible sacrifices of America's servicemen and women, as well as their families. Senator Britt graduated from Enterprise High School in 2000. Senator Britt is an alumna of the University of Alabama, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science. Upon graduation in 2004, she worked for United States Senator Richard Shelby, Alabama's then-senior Senator, as his deputy press secretary and press secretary. In 2007, she became special assistant to the president of the University of Alabama. After earning her Juris Doctor in 2013 from the University of Alabama School of Law, she practiced law until taking a leave of absence to serve on Senator Shelby's reelection campaign as deputy campaign manager and communications director. In 2016, Shelby named her chief of staff in his office, where she served until her selection as the first female president and CEO of Alabama's business council in 2018. Before her election to the United States Senate in 2022, she returned to her former law firm. In 2023, Senator Britt was sworn in as Alabama's first elected female Senator, the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, and the only Republican mom of school-aged kids serving in the Senate. As Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Britt has made border security a top priority, fighting to defend hardworking Americans and protect our homeland. Additionally, she is a tireless champion on the Banking Committee for financial policies that promote freedom and prosperity, ultimately ensuring that Main Street America and local Alabama small businesses have the opportunity to grow and thrive. In a short amount of time, Senator Britt has worked to ensure the state of Alabama has the best possible seat at the table and introduced key legislation on a range of important issues, including mental health care access, educational freedom, social media usage by minors, agriculture, and achieving peace through strength. A Christian, wife, and mother, faith and family are at the heart of Senator Britt's life. She is committed to fighting tirelessly to preserve the American Dream for our children and our children's children. She now resides in Montgomery with her husband, Wesley, and their two children.
