Bio

A proud local, I grew up in Steamboat Springs and now live and work in the community. I am running for the Colorado House of Representatives in order to defend our diversified economy and vibrant Colorado culture, promote access to affordable housing options, and work to strengthen our educational system through the state legislature. Because of my upbringing and can-do attitude, I am confident that I can represent the people of the Western Slope in the Colorado state legislature. While growing up, I was a hockey player with Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey, a swimmer with the Steamboat Springs Swim Team which brought me to many small towns throughout the Western Slope, and a skier with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. I graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 2011. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in History and acquiring a licensure in Secondary Social Studies Education. While at CU, I was the Captain of the Women's Ice Hockey team. After college, I moved to Pristina, Kosovo where I worked as a high school social studies teacher at the American School of Kosova. During my time in Kosovo, I loved learning about former Yugoslav history and traveling to a new country each weekend. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, having traveled to 46 countries mostly in North and Central America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. After living in Kosovo for a year, I moved back to Colorado where I got a job as a high school social studies teacher, teaching AP US Government and Politics as well as Economics. While teaching AP Government, my students explored the following Year-Long Essential Question- As a student, how can you be politically and civically engaged? How does understanding our political systems help you to be engaged? This question inspired me to increase my own political engagement as well as encourage my students. This led me to volunteer politically through varying Get Out The Vote efforts. In 2020, I completed my Master's Degree in Leadership in Educational Organizations with a Principal's Licensure. This degree has given me a deep understanding of educational policy at the state level. I currently work as a social studies teacher at Steamboat Springs High School. I am honored to work at the amazing high school which I once attended. The staff and faculty in the Steamboat Springs School District are a valuable resource to our community, and it is an incredible opportunity to work with these individuals every day. In my free time, I like to ski as many resorts as I can, mountain bike, camp, and hike. Good thing I live in the most beautiful place in the world - Colorful Colorado!
