Bio

Her Story... Jenny grew up just north of here in Wyoming. Her mom was a librarian, and her dad worked his way through school as a night janitor at Jenny's elementary school. She saw how much they sacrificed for a better life for her and her brother. After graduating college, Jenny went to work defending our environment, health care choices for pregnant Coloradoans, and working families. Jenny is a proven leader with a track record of getting things done. Now, she's ready to go to work for Adams County families as a Colorado House Representative. Jenny started her career at the Wyoming Energy Council, administering low-income energy assistance programing for individuals in crisis heat situations. It was this job that made her realize she wanted to advocate for systems-change work in order to have the largest impact for good. Jenny cut her teeth in advocacy as a legislative associate at Siegel Public Affairs, running campaigns, fighting for working families to secure good jobs, have access to renewable energy and protect reproductive health care freedoms. She went on to serve as the Executive Director of Emerge Colorado, working with Sen. Faith Winter to ensure that diverse voices are in the room when policy decisions are made. She helped train hundreds of pro-choice Democratic Colorado women to run for office and win, leading the organization to a 90% win rate in 2016 and contributing to the first-ever woman majority in the Colorado State House of Representatives. Jenny Willford currently works for the Colorado Sierra Club and is a proud Progressive Workers Union member. In her role, Jenny works with community members, state and local elected officials, unions and advocacy organizations to build comprehensive state and local strategies to combat climate change, make the transition to clean renewable energy and protect our wild spaces for generations to come. Jenny was first elected to office in 2017 then again in 2021. She was chosen by her colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro Tem on Northglenn City Council. While on Council, Jenny has been a responsive and effective advocate- leading the charge to pass one of the state's most generous municipal paid family leave programs; investing in critical city infrastructure - including a new recreation center, senior center and theater; fighting for affordable housing and senior housing options; taking climate action and much more. Jenny holds bachelor degrees in women's studies and international studies from the University of Wyoming; and a master's degree in human rights and political science from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. In her spare time, Jenny loves to explore all that Colorado has to offer with her husband Matt, their kids, Jackson and Caroline, and cattle dog, Ace.
