Bio

A proud military spouse, State Representative Bethany Ballard has made House District 147 her home since 2011 when her husband, Mike, transferred to Air Force Reserve Command Headquarters. She was elected to serve in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2022 and is the Vice Chairman of the Special Rules Committee, Chairman of the Education Curriculum Subcommittee and a member of the Defense and Veterans Affairs and Appropriations Committees. After graduating from Southern Guilford High School in North Carolina, Representative Ballard received a BA in English Literature from the University of North Carolina and an MA in English Literature from the University of Central Arkansas. She taught high school English for a number of years until she took some time off from full-time work to stay home with her children. During that time, she began running political campaigns and eventually opened her own small political consulting company. Representative Ballard spent many years as a substitute teacher and a volunteer in the media center at her children's schools and in the children's ministry at Perry Methodist Church. She has served as the acolyte coordinator there for over a decade. Representative Ballard is married to her college sweetheart, Mike, a colonel in the Air Force Reserves. Together, they have two sons, Braden and Preston.
