Bio

Lee Anderson, a Republican, w as elected in 2016 to serve Senate District 24, which includes all of Elbert, Hart, Lincoln, Oglethorpe, Taliafero, and Wilkes Counties and part of Columbia and Richmond Counties. In the Senate, Sen. Anderson serves as the Vice Chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, and Science and Technology Committees and as a member of the Economic Development and Tourism and Public Safety Committees. Anderson has a long history of serving his community. He formerly served in the State House of Representatives from 2009 until 2012. After Sen. Anderson left the State House in 2012, he was appointed by Governor Deal to serve on the Board of Corrections. He also served on the Columbia County Board of Education and the Columbia County Board of Commissioners. He previously served as the State Young Farmers Chair and is now a Board Member of the Columbia County Farm Bureau. He is a member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association and the NRA. Sen. Anderson is also active in supporting numerous ministries that help those affected by addiction. After attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Sen. Anderson returned to Columbia County to farm. A small businessman and farmer, Lee Anderson operates a farm on the same land his family has farmed since the early 1900s. He is a native of Columbia County. Senator Anderson is married to Dr. Donna Anderson, a retired educator and Principal. They are the proud parents of two children, Ben and Katie. The Andersons are members of Powell Baptist Church.
