MEET DORIS A lifelong resident of Springfield, Doris Turner is a leader, a problem-solver, and a community activist. She has served on the Springfield City Council and Sangamon County Board and strongly believes in working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to best serve her constituents. A LIFE LONG RESIDENT With more than 20 years of experience with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Doris has worked to expand affordable, exceptional healthcare for all residents, especially those in rural and low-income communities. She believes in the importance of constituent services and taking a one-on-one approach with the people she proudly serves. Whether it be agriculture, tourism and hospitality, or education, you can always count on Doris to fight for our values. Doris was appointed to represent the 48th State Senate District in February of 2021, and serves on the Agriculture, State Government, Tourism and Hospitality, Veterans Affairs, and the Public Health Appropriations committees. She is a member of Grace United Methodist Church and worships regularly at Greater All Nations Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Doris and her husband, Cecil, have been married for 45 years, and together they have three children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
