Donna Schaibley is in her third term serving House District 24 where she sits on the Insurance and Financial Institutions Committees and is vice chairman of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee. She also is a member of the Recycling Marketing Development Board. Schaibley was born and raised in Floyds Knobs, Ind. She graduated from Purdue University where she majored in political science and social studies education. She worked at George Washington University and later at Indiana University, Bloomington. After her husband started his career as a lawyer, she became a stay-at-home mother. She remained active in the community, volunteered for various organizations and sat on the Board of Trustees of the Orchard School for six years. Before joining the legislature, Schaibley was a substitute teacher in the Carmel Clay Schools where she focused on special education students. She and her husband John have lived in Carmel for 25 years, and have two children and two grandchildren.
