Bio

Troy Romero is the conservative Republican running to become State Representative for House District 37, which contains Jeff Davis and a portion of Calcasieu. He is committed to bringing his conservative beliefs, his Christian faith, his business principles, and his passion for serving others to the Louisiana Capitol. Being raised in the district, Troy has a great love for southwest Louisiana and is continually striving to improve it. He attended Welsh High School and continued his education at Louisiana State University. Troy is happily married to his wife, Emily Williamson Romero, and he has four daughters, three stepsons, and six grandchildren. Troy is service-oriented and has a proven record of serving our community. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Jefferson Davis Parish, has served on numerous Louisiana agricultural boards, is a member of the Rotary Club, and volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana. Troy has also dedicated much of his time to coaching the youth in our community and their sports teams. And, as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Welsh, Troy is a committed Christian who has been an active participant in Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, an organization dedicated to helping children who are less fortunate get on a path toward prosperity. For 20 years, Troy served his community as a fireman and first responder in Welsh and was also a board member for the Jefferson Davis Parish Police Juror. During his time on the Police Jury, he helped- - move the parish government into the computer age; - consolidate industrial zones to Lacassine, leading to industrial development in the parish; - secure millions of dollars to build the Jeff Davis Water and Sewer District, providing excellent water to the rural areas south of I-10 (including Hayes and Bell City in Calcasieu Parish); and, - provide funding for the completion of the Health Unit, new LSU Ag Center, the Police Jury Office, the remodel of the second floor of our Court House, and the expansion of the Clerk of Court's and Sheriff's office. Troy is a small business owner, opening Sports Turf Specialists LLC in 2009. There, he and his employees construct and maintain sports facilities and complexes across the state. His experience as a business owner and job creator has molded his passion for supporting small business and job creation, which he believes is the backbone of our state's economy. Prior to him starting his business, Troy had professional careers in the farming and restaurant industries. As your State Representative, Troy will fight to cut the budget, stop tax increases, and make our state more business- and job-friendly. He will stand for pro-life, pro-adoption, and pro-2nd Amendment policies. He pledges to use his leadership abilities to pave a path to progress in the state of Louisiana. Simply put- Troy isn't running to become buddies with the political elites; he is running to get the career politicians out of our daily lives and businesses.
