| Fontenot graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1996 and joined the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office in 1997. He later worked for the Thibodaux Police Department as commander of the bureau of narcotics, leaving the department in 2004.
In 2009, Fontenot opened Thibodaux Driving School and became the CEO of BRYCO Land Developments in 2013.
Fontenot has also been a firefighter for 24 years with the Thibodaux and St. John volunteer fire departments. He served as past vice president and fire captain for the St. John Volunteer Fire Department; was awarded Police Officer of the Year in 2002 and Firefighter of the Year in 2012 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and received the St. John Fire Department's President's Award in 2008 and 2011.
In 2014, he was named one of the Best of Lafourche 40 Under 40 by the Lafourche Parish Chamber of Commerce and is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Lafourche. |
