Bio

Representative Louis Riggs, a Republican, represents Marion, Shelby and parts of Monroe counties (District 5) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November, 2018. In addition to his legislative duties, Riggs has served as an educator at Hannibal-LaGrange University for more than 11 years. He is also an attorney. Riggs is a member of the Clover Road Christian Church. He serves as president of the board of directors of Community Betterment, Inc. and is on the board of directors for Missouri Rural Development Partners. He is the immediate past president and a co-founder of the Northeast Missouri Conservative Club, secretary of the Hannibal Chapter of Missouri Right to Life, and a member of the Marion County Republican Central Committee. His also has worked with the Hannibal Nutrition Center, the Hannibal Free Clinic, and the City of Hannibal Park Board. A graduate of Hannibal High School, Riggs obtained a bachelor's degree in English from Westminster College and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Born and raised in Hannibal, Riggs resides there today with his wife, Anne, and their two children.
