Bio

Hi, I'm Alice and I'm here to serve you. Thank you for being here. My name is Alice Buckley and I am serving my first term in the Montana State Legislature. I am in this because I am invested in our community and want to participate in creating a future in Bozeman that is vibrant, inclusive, and resilient. Our community is changing, and with that comes immense challenges and opportunities. Our work lies ahead in growing thoughtfully while remaining strongly rooted in everything that has made Bozeman such a wonderful place to live, work, and play. Equitable and sustainable growth means high-paying jobs, housing, childcare, and healthcare for everyone in our community. I measure success through people - the well-being and self-actualization of those in my community - and am working to directly improve the lives of folks across Bozeman. I grew up outside of Oakland, California and came to Montana while I was in college. Since moving here in 2013, I have worked in conservation, running a local grass-fed beef business, and now for a professional facilitation firm based in Bozeman. My husband, Zach, and I spend our time on trails and rivers, doing our best to serve our community, and taking care of our two good bad dogs. I am running for re-election because I want to continue to support and advocate for our community and bring humanness, curiosity, and an ethic of love into the space of politics. I spend a lot of time thinking about hope- where we find hope, how we create it, what is both feeding and eroding it, and the future of hope within our democratic institutions. I've been contemplating hope as a discipline - hope as an action and practice, a way of showing up each day and doing our best work for ourselves, for those we are in proximity with, and for our community. There is still a place for grief, disappointment, anger, or exhaustion yet hope as a practice of showing up means we can continue to move forward, serve, and grow. I am committed to running a campaign built on those same principles of curiosity, generousness, middle-ground, and thoughtfulness. If I am re-elected, I am committed to serving through finding common ground, shared values, and treating others with decency and respect. Thank you for being here and being you. I hope you'll join me for this journey!
