Bio

A longtime farmer and educator, David Monson is a top Republican in the North Dakota House of Representatives. David is fighting for the working families and conservative values that have propelled our state to leadership on a national stage. David comes from a deeply rooted farming family in rural northeast North Dakota. It was there on the farm, working alongside his late father, where David would come to appreciate the powerful impact which our state could have on one's life. After college, David began a career in education as a high school science teacher and assistant boys' basketball coach in Hankinson. David would then return to the family farm and go on to serve in educational leadership positions in Nekoma, Milton-Osnabrock, Adams, and Edinburg. Midway through his career in education, David took a risk to expand his farming operation and establish an insurance agency. Over the course of the next decade, David would successfully grow the business to include all lines of insurance before exiting to focus on farming and education. A true conservative, David has consistently upheld pro-life values, defended the second amendment, fought to cut red tape, and protected our elections from liberal politicians in Washington, DC. Monson has served in leadership on the Appropriations Committee for over two decades, delivering real results for North Dakota. A lifelong educator, David has fought tirelessly for our K-12 schools. Understanding what it takes to balance a budget and build a successful small business, Monson has been a leader in efforts to strengthen our economy and solve our workforce shortage. Together David and his wife Mary have three grown sons- Cordell, Cale, and Jared. They enjoy farming and spending time with their six grandchildren.
