Bio

New Jersey State Assemblyman Kevin Egan is a lifelong resident of the City of New Brunswick, where he resides with his wife, Susan, and their two children, Lindsay and Colin. He attended St. Peter's Grammar and High Schools in New Brunswick. A graduate of Rutgers University with a B.A. in Management and Labor Studies, Kevin was appointed by Governor Murphy in 2020 to serve on the Rutgers University Board of Governors. As part of his civic involvement, Kevin has served on the Board of the New Brunswick State Theatre, the Board of Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick Parking Authority, the Middlesex County Tax Board and the New Jersey School Development Authority. He is also a member of the New Brunswick Elks #324 and the New Brunswick Knights of Columbus Council #257. Kevin is a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 456. He has served on various committees and assignments for the local union which covers approximately 18 counties in New Jersey with inside and outside electricians. He is currently the Assistant Business Manager and serves as a Trustee on the Pension and Annuity Funds for the local. He is a graduate of the IBEW-NECA Certified Apprenticeship Program. Kevin was first elected to the New Brunswick City Council in 2011. He has served as City Council President and is currently Vice President. As a member of the City Council Kevin works to create new jobs, fights for and supports initiatives for housing, education, and healthcare, and commercial development. He was re-elected in 2022 to a four year term. Son of retired Assemblyman Joseph V. Egan and the late Yolanda Egan, Kevin was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in November 2023 and was sworn in on January 8, 2024. He serves as a member of the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee as well as the Oversight, Reforms, and Federal Relations Committee.
