| Born and raised in Jersey City, Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato is the youngest of five children to Roy and Betty McCann. Barbara's mother is 96 years young and still lives in the family's Greenville home on Winfield Avenue. Barbara and Pat, her husband of 30 years, also raised their two sons in Jersey City, Alex and Gregory, a mere mile away from her childhood home. Today, Alex is a Lieutenant, Junior Grade proudly serving in the United States Navy on the USS Fitzgerald out of San Diego. Gregory is an entrepreneur in New York City's hospitality industry. Barbara has two wonderful stepchildren, Patrick Jr. and Heather and five adorable grandchildren- Sienna, Jaxon, Aviana, Santino and Seline.
Barbara's extensive career currently spans three worlds- private (working in healthcare), governmental (as Council Aide), and political (as Vice Chair of the Hudson County Democratic Organization and Chairwoman of the Jersey City Democratic Committee). Barbara's vast experience in each of the aforementioned is what sets her apart as the best to serve the entire 31st Legislative District in the NJ General Assembly. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Legislative Aide in two Assembly Offices for 8 years. In addition, Barbara currently serves as the Jersey City representative on the Hackensack Meadowlands Municipal Committee, as a trustee on the Hudson County Schools of Technology, and a former board member of the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention Barbara's life experience and expansive career has given her the ability to understand firsthand the concerns of residents and will work tirelessly in Trenton to advocate for constituents in the 31st Legislative District. |
