Bio

Robert Britto is a Democrat representing District 18 (East Providence, Pawtucket) in the Rhode Island Senate. Elected to the Senate in November 2022, Sen. Britto previously served three terms as the Ward 1 representative on the East Providence City Council, focusing on initiatives such as traffic control improvements, growth along the city's waterfront, and the promotion of diversity. He also served as the council's president. A graduate of Stonehill College, ​Sen. Britto works as a design and construction specialist at Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corp., an agency that works to ensure that all people who live and work in Rhode Island can afford a healthy and attractive home. He previously worked as a retail project manager with Alex & Ani, an assistant project manager with Michael's Corp., and a self-employed general contractor/founder of Four I's Contracting. Sen. Britto was born July 1, 1963. Originally from Providence, he has lived in East Providence for more than 23 years. He and his wife, Danielle, have four children. They reside in Rumford. Over the years, Sen. Britto has been involved in many community activities and organizations. He was very involved with the Fox Point Boys and Girls Club in Providence and served 10 years as president of its Alumni Association. He is a former board member of the Fox Point Senior Citizens Center and was one of 20 individuals selected to the Pew Charitable Trust Civic Entrepreneur initiative.
