Bio

State Representative Ana-Maria Ramos proudly serves House District 102, a diverse cross-section of Dallas County which includes the cities of Addison, Richardson, Dallas, and Garland. Ana-Maria is committed to improving the lives of Texans of all ages by investing in our public education, providing access to affordable healthcare, and helping our robust economy thrive through property tax reform. She is also dedicated to expanding Medicaid, passing sensible gun legislation, and fighting for women's healthcare and equal rights. She was inspired to run for office to protect immigrant, Muslim, and LGBTQ communities, and is committed to protecting marginalized groups and working class families. A Dallas native, Ana-Maria is an attorney, educator, wife, mother, and a child of immigrants. After having her child at 15, Ana-Maria persevered against the odds and returned to school. She obtained her G.E.D. from Dallas Can Academy before graduating from Eastfield Community College and the University of Texas at Arlington. Soon after, she received her Master's of Business Administration from Texas Woman's University and her Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at El Centro College and runs her own law firm, Ramos Law, PLLC. For the last 20 years, Ana-Maria has worked closely with her community and police force on revitalization projects and public health and safety programs as Executive Director of Jubilee Park and Community Center in Dallas. She led an initiative to buy a neighborhood bar that attracted criminal activities and had it demolished. She also obtained grants to help underprivileged citizens with home improvements and crime reduction measures. Additionally, Ana-Maria helped increase access to higher education in her community by heading development and operations to open up a new campus of El Centro Community College. Ana-Maria has been a passionate advocate for her district, even before becoming a State Representative. She is a member of the Richardson Council of PTAs, and a board member at the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association. Ana-Maria is looking forward to utilizing her unique personal and professional backgrounds to enact positive change for all Texans in the House of Representatives.
