Bio

Steve and his wife Peggy have called Texas House District 121 home for more than 45 years. They have raised two children in the district, and are the proud grandparents of five wonderful grandchildren, ages three to fourteen. Steve is a highly regarded business attorney, who has extensive experience representing individuals, large and small businesses, doctors, and religious organizations. He believes in free market principles, the protection of our constitutional liberties, and will work to reduce the burden of overreaching government regulations. In addition to his law practice, Steve has dedicated his life to improving our community. Whether coaching youth sports, founding the San Antonio All-Star football game-which is responsible for the awarding of hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for local students-or volunteering with local foundations, Steve stays actively engaged in our community. Steve was repeatedly elected to the Alamo Heights School Board for 12 years, serving as President for three terms where he fought the impact of "Robin Hood" legislation and was instrumental in keeping local tax dollars in our community. He is a strong proponent of strengthening vocational education and workforce development. Steve understands the complexities of school finance and the necessity for reform. In addition to his advocacy through his Alamo Heights roles, he was a member of the statewide Special Committee on Revenue and Funding and served three years on the Board of the Texas Association of School Boards. He has spent significant time at the Capitol working on school finance issues. Steve recently concluded eight years on the VIA Board (including the last two as Vice Chairman), where he gained critical knowledge and understanding of our community's transportation infrastructure needs. As San Antonio grows by another million plus people over the next 20 years, Steve's expertise in transportation infrastructure will be crucial to ensuring our District and the greater San Antonio area receive the necessary attention and funding to enhance mobility and keep up with the impending growth. Peggy and Steve are longstanding members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where they were married 49 years ago. Steve has taught Sunday school and served on the Vestry. They are active alumni of TCU, where they met freshman year, and enjoy football and baseball weekends cheering for their beloved Horned Frogs. When not watching games, they enjoy ranching and spending time with their lovable grandkids.
