Bio

Jon Plumer is no stranger to hard work. He retired as a route salesman for Kraft Foods in 2011 after 30 years of service, and he currently owns and operates Plumer Karate America, which has seven locations around the state. He and his wife, Chris, have been married 42 years. Together, they are the proud parents of four daughters, and even prouder grandparents of seven grandchildren. Jon has been active on the Lodi EMS Commission, a member of the Lodi Optimists and the Lodi Rotary Club, and served as president of Lodi and Lake Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he started and operates the Lodi Pride Concerts in the Park series which runs weekly in the summer, and he and Chris co-founded the annual Lodi Pride free Thanksgiving dinner. Jon is currently serving his 2nd term as a Columbia County Board Supervisor, and previously served two terms on the Lodi Town Board. ISSUES THRIVING PUBLIC SCHOOLS As a father of four and grandfather of seven, I know the importance of quality local schools. I will prioritize education funding because every child deserves to receive a valuable education, and our students and teachers deserve the resources they need to excel in the classroom. SUPPORTING OUR RURAL COMMUNITIES I am passionate about our rural communities - And small towns like ours are vital to Wisconsin's economy. To maintain our small-town way of life, I will advocate on behalf of our local farms and small businesses to ensure job growth here, and not just in big cities. HOLDING THE LINE ON TAXES The state legislature needs to continue holding the line on property and income taxes, and work diligently to ensure that our hard-earned tax dollars are being spent wisely in Madison. Making ends meet can be difficult - especially on a fixed-income - and your government shouldn't make that any harder. HIGH-QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE Everyone - not just those working for big corporations and government - deserves to have high-quality, affordable healthcare. Those with pre-existing conditions should not lose insurance, small businesses should be allowed to create pools to keep costs down, and consumers need the option of less expensive plans that gives them access to doctors that fits the needs of their family. VOLUNTEER With your support, I won the special election for the 42nd District, but the race is not over. On November 3rd, I will once again be on the ballot and we must keep up our momentum. I need to build a strong team, and I am asking you to be part of it. Please consider hosting an event, displaying a yard sign, going door-to-door to drop literature, writing an editorial to your local paper, or making phone calls. Every volunteer we have letting the district know that I am on the ballot will help!
