| The new MarcoPolo State and School District Professional Development Program provides on-site training to K-12 teachers in how to use Internet content in their classrooms. The grant program, by MCI WorldCom, aims to train lead teachers in large and medium districts, who would then further disseminate the skills. Training centers on MarcoPolo materials is a series of five discipline-specific Web sites offering high-quality, panel-reviewed educational content. States and school districts are encouraged to apply for the training grants, which include seminars taught by Internet education specialists and copies of the MarcoPolo Teacher Training Kit.
