The State Budget Process
The House Ways and Means Committee continued budget subcommittee hearings last week.  This week, the Proviso Subcommittee will review all provisos in the budget.  The full Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to debate the state budget the week of February 17.

BILLS OF INTEREST
The Clemson University Governmental Affairs office is monitoring several bills that have potential impact on Clemson.  A complete listing of these bills may be found here.  Click on the bill number for a description of the legislation, along with the bill's current status.

CLEMSON ON CAPITOL HILL
FY2016 Budget 
The President's $4 trillion budget proposes $1.091 trillion in discretionary spending for FY2016, $74 billion above sequestration spending caps ($37 billion for defense, $37 billion for nondefense discretionary).The documents related to the FY2015 budget request are available at this website

Higher Education Act (HEA) Reauthorization
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee will hold its first HEA reauthorization hearing on the deregulation of higher education on Tuesday, February 24. We expect the House to produce an HEA Reauthorization bill the first week of March, while the Senate develops and moves its own measure before the two chambers try to reach a compromise.
